Is legals only your kind of wedding?
This is the simple option when you want the legal marriage, rather than a personalised telling of your story. You might be keeping the day small or planning a separate symbolic celebration. A short ceremony still needs advance preparation: it is not a shortcut around the legal requirements.
What the published package includes
- An introductory call to talk through your plans.
- A short ceremony, described in my current service guide as around 5–10 minutes.
- The legal vows and marriage paperwork.
My service guide describes office, home or favourite-place options. We will need to confirm a suitable location and any travel arrangements for your date. Please ask about accessibility, witnesses and official certificate arrangements rather than assuming these are included.
A little preparation before a very simple moment
- Start with your date and circumstances. A Notice of Intended Marriage normally needs to reach your celebrant at least one month and no more than 18 months before the wedding.
- Prepare your documents. Your celebrant will explain identity and birth evidence and, where relevant, evidence that a previous marriage has ended.
- Make time to meet. Your celebrant must meet each of you separately and in person before the marriage.
- Plan the people. You, your partner and your celebrant must be physically present, with two witnesses aged 18 or over.
This is a planning summary, not advice about individual eligibility. Read the legal marriage checklist and official sources.
A few things you may be wondering
Can we get married this week?
The usual notice period is at least one month. A prescribed authority may approve a shortening in limited circumstances; it is not automatic or something a celebrant can simply promise. Check the official guidance and speak to Bec before making arrangements.
What if we are celebrating overseas?
If your overseas event is symbolic rather than a legal marriage, you may want an Australian legal ceremony separately. A valid overseas marriage is generally recognised in Australia and cannot be registered here. If you are already legally married, do not assume you need or can have another legal marriage. Check your circumstances against the government guidance.
Can we include more of our story?
If you want a crafted introduction and a more personal small gathering, the Intimate Ceremony may fit better. For a fuller personal script and vow support, compare the Bespoke Package.
Let’s start with the practical details
Have your preferred date, location and whether you have already had a legal marriage ready for the conversation. We can then work out the right next step rather than making assumptions.
